Paris warns Moscow: “We are going to cause the collapse of the Russian economy”
“We are going to wage a total economic and financial war on Russia,” French Economy Minister Bruno Le Maire warned Moscow today, who is convinced the West is going to “cause the collapse of the Russian economy.”
Although the sanctions announced by the United States and the European Union against Moscow after Russia’s attack on Ukraine are mainly directed against Russian leaders, oligarchs and banks, Le Maire believes that “the Russian people will also pay the consequences.”
According to Le Maire, the sanctions against Russia are “terribly effective” and their effects are already beginning to be seen.
“The ruble has depreciated by 30%, Russian (foreign exchange) reserves are melting like snow in the sun, inflation is rising, and Russians are lining up at the banks,” Le Maire explained in an interview with France radio station. Info.
The French Economy Minister warned that the European Union and the United States could announce another round of economic sanctions “if necessary”.
The French government is aware that the sanctions against Russia will have consequences on the French economy, especially on energy prices. “The French are aware that freedom has a price,” added Le Maire, who believes that Russia will suffer more than the EU from an economic point of view with the sanctions and their consequences.
