New decision for the creators of Fortnite.
Epic Games announces that the competitive tournaments of Fortnite with cash prizes will no longer be held in Russia from 11 March 2022. Through a short statement on the official blog of Fortnite, Epic Games has announced that, starting from 11 March (i.e. today) Russia will be added to the list of countries that are prohibited from organizing tournaments with cash prizes in this video game.
They clarify that players residing in Russia will be able to continue participating in the rest of the tournaments, including those where prizes are rewards such as cosmetic items for Fortnite.
They also add that all players resident in Russia who have outstanding payments must complete the award verification form before March 22, 2022. Failure to do so will result in the freezing of these funds until the payment service provider via Epic Games The Internet will not be able to restore the service.
Epic is stopping commerce with Russia in our games in response to its invasion of Ukraine. We? Re not blocking access for the same reason other communication tools remain online: the free world should keep all lines of dialogue open.

This is another measure that affects the Russian country, in view of the invasion of Ukraine. In reality, it is not the first measure that Epic Games has taken in this regard. A few days ago the company joined the boycott of the digital video game market in Russia, categorically stopping any type of transaction from this country in the Epic Games Store.
