Former Lokomotiv coach Sergei Mandreko has died. This is reported on site Austrian football club “Rapid”.
Mandreko passed away at the age of 50. The cause of death was amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, which the coach had suffered since 2016.
Mandreko played for Rapid from 1992 to 1997. He also represented the Tajik “Vakhsh” and “Pamir”, the German “Herta” and “Bochum”, the Austrian “Mattersburg” and “Parndorf”. In addition, Mandreko played four matches for the CIS national team and one each for the national teams of Tajikistan and Russia.
After completing his career as a football player, Mandreko worked as a coach at the Austrian Lassee and LAK-Inter. In 2008-2009, he served as an assistant coach at Lokomotiv Moscow.
On February 21, the Olympic champion of the 1980 Games in Moscow, Alexander Sidorenko, died at the age of 61. The cause of death was a coronavirus infection.
