The Albares ministry alludes to the closure of the European space in response to the invasion of Ukraine and connection difficulties, for which it also advises not to travel to Russian territory
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, EU and Cooperation recommended this Saturday to Spanish citizens that they “assess the possibility of temporarily leaving” Russia by commercial means “still available”. Similarly, the department headed by José Manuel Albares advised against traveling to that country in view of the complicated situation created by the invasion of Ukraine ordered by the Kremlin.
This is reflected in a new update of its travel recommendations regarding Russia. In it, he adds that the Embassy of Spain in Moscow and the Consulates General of Spain in Moscow and Saint Petersburg are following “carefully” the development of the situation in that country after the invasion it has carried out in Ukraine.
The ministry indicated that this recommendation responds “to the closure of Spanish and European airspace and the significant reduction in air connections between Russia and third countries.” It also argues “the difficulties arising from the decisions taken by the international community and that are already hindering or altering bank transfers or the use of credit or debit cards.”
Likewise, the United States launched a similar notice this Saturday recommending that US citizens leave Russia “immediately”, placing their travel alert at level 4, which is precisely the one that advises avoiding transfers.
