The folk singer Yarita Lizeth from Puno was recognized at the I Symposium of Women Leaders called Builders of Democracy, which took place in the altiplano region. In addition to her, more than 100 Quechua and Aymara women were decorated.
The activity was carried out by Regional Government of Puno as a prelude to Women’s Day, which is commemorated on March 8. “It is the first time so I feel very happy and happy to receive this recognition on behalf of the region. Fist”, he commented to La Decan radio.
The singer pointed out that in addition to her artistic career, she started a business. “I love to sing and I never thought I could earn an income. I learned from my family that all the work sacrificed is saved and invested in a business that can last you. Everything is temporary, we are not going to be young all the time”, he commented. For this reason, Yarita Lizeth has a hotel and a restaurant in the city of Juliaca.

The Puno artist stated that as woman suffered harassment, discrimination and even comments that tried to minimize her, but he paid no attention to it and focused on pursuing his dreams. “Many times they told me, you are not going to get anywhere. Over time I realized that this is not the case. We can build many things, with work, perseverance and discipline”, she declared.
In the symposium of women leaders, topics such as the role of women, barriers to participation in politics, political harassment and the empowerment of women were discussed. The Minister of Labor, Betssy Chávez Chino, was at the activity and delivered the awards together with the governor in charge of Puno, Germán Alejo.
