CREA: France has become the largest buyer of Russian LNG
France has become the largest buyer of Russian liquefied natural gas. This is stated in a study by the Finnish analytical Center for Energy and Clean Air Research. (CREA).
Belgium ranks second in terms of Russian LNG imports. At the same time, Finnish analysts stressed that we are talking about spot deals, not long-term supply contracts. According to experts, this means that the authorities of these countries have made a conscious decision to use Russian fuel.
As the German newspaper explains Die Welt, France is currently experiencing problems in the energy sector. In particular, for technical reasons, the work of many nuclear power plants was suspended. At the same time, there are four LNG terminals operating in the country.
Earlier, the European Union officially introduced the sixth package of anti-Russian sanctions. The main measure under the new sanctions package was a partial embargo on oil supplies from Russia. The ban will not include raw materials supplied through the Druzhba pipeline. It is planned that the rejection of oil will occur within six months, from oil products – within eight months.
