Final Fantasy VII remake it was ultimately a success: all the changes made before the last part of the game certainly worked, bringing greater depth and often to characters who otherwise would have remained in oblivion. But even here, some differences with the original work made the fans turn up their noses, with a Sephiroth all too present right from the start.
The Co-Director spoke on this Motomu Toriyama, graphics and VFX director Shintaro Takai and Lighting Director Iichiro Yamaguchi. All three explained the reason for this choice and how it was also enhanced by the artistic elements:
“There was an intention to show what effect a hallucination on Sephiroth could have on Cloud’s mind at an early stage, but his first appearance also occurred because his existence had a huge influence on the world of the Remake itself.“.
The two technicians instead focused on the aspect to give to this “imaginary” Sephiroth, with special shaders to give the player the feeling of witnessing something distorted. In short, now we know why but perhaps the final yield was not entirely spot on. We will see at this point, what will happen in Rebirth.
