Mexico City.- The General Prosecutor of the Republic (FGR) investigates Alberto Elias Beltranthe last person in charge of the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic in the past administration, for an alleged illicit enrichment of 31.7 million pesos between 2014 and 2018.
The Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Corruption began the investigation folder after the Ministry of Public Administration (SFP) filed a complaint against the former official.
This is the second investigation of the FGR against Albert Elijahbecause in 2019 he was also denounced along with his wife Marcela Kuchle López, by the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), an investigation that is in charge of the Specialized Prosecutor for Internal Affairs.

The new investigation is now for an alleged unjustified increase in his assets for 31.7 million pesos.
In those years, Elijah Beltran served as general director of the FIU and deputy legal and international affairs attorney of the PGR before becoming head of the Office of the Attorney General, after the resignation of Raúl Cervantes, in October 2018.
This procedure allegedly began with a bank account that Elías Beltrán did not include in his declaration of assets and that was opened by the PGR itself for travel and expenses of the person who then acted as its owner.
Since August 2020, the former PGR commander filed an amparo against acts of the Patrimonial Verification Directorate B of the Ministry of Public Administration, challenging the initiation of an administrative responsibility procedure.
The former official considered in his request that the asset verification should have been carried out by the Internal Control Body of the now General Prosecutor of the Republic (FGR), which is an autonomous body, and not the SFP.
Germán Cruz Silva, Second District Judge in Administrative Matters, asked him to clarify his claim, before deciding whether to admit it for processing.
