In an interview granted to the Japanese magazine Automaton, Omega Force brand manager Tomohiko Sho revealed the background that led to the change in the game’s approach.
Sho first explained that the choice of difficulty is fundamental for an action game and that Fate/Samurai Remnant has a difficulty level designed for beginners of the genre. Then he said: “To tell you the truth, in the early stages of development we had designed it as a soulslike, that is, as a very hard action game. However, talking with Mr. Nasu and the others, I understood that those who had played it after Fate/Grand Order he wouldn’t be able to play it.” Fate/Grand Order is a very popular mobile game in Japan, an inevitable point of reference for the other products in the series. “After talking about it, we decided to change direction to make an action RPG that everyone can play.”
The choice seems to have proved successful, given that Fate/Samurai Remnant was rewarded by excellent reviews from critics and excellent sales results. Read our review to find out more.
