Face Pay testing with passengers will begin at all stations of the Moscow Central Circle (MCC) on September 3. This was reported in the Moscow Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development.
As noted in the department, in order to use the “payment by face”, you need to find turnstiles with a black sticker.
You can connect to Face Pay in the Moscow Metro app. As Deputy Mayor of Moscow Maxim Liksutov noted, more than 190 thousand Muscovites use the system, but this figure is constantly growing.
“It is important that the choice of the fare payment method will always remain with the passenger,” he said.
Earlier, on December 28, Liksutov announced that the Face Pay service would become available for passengers of the Moscow Central Circle and diameters (MCC and MCD) in 2022.
At the same time, it became known that during the existence of Face Pay, more than 1 million passengers registered in the personal account of the Moscow Metro and Moscow Transport applications, and more than 50 thousand people used the service.
The Face Pay fare payment system was launched at all Moscow metro stations on October 15, 2021. To use the system, you need to download the Moscow Metro or Moscow Transport application. Then, in the Face Pay section, upload a photo of your face and link a bank card. In the subway, a passenger walks up to a turnstile that has a black round sticker on it and looks into the camera. The “smart” device identifies it, and the fare is deducted from the card.
Also, to pay for travel in the subway, residents of the capital can still use the Troika card, the United travel ticket, the Muscovite social card and a bank card.
