After a hibernation of a few weeks, the 2024 season seems to have begun for Formula 1 under the banner of unexpected and far-reaching news. This morning the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf revealed a case involving Christian Horner.
These are not surprise choices on the driver market, nor other sporting topics, but an internal investigation launched by Red Bull itself aimed at clarifying the “allegations” that have emerged against the team principal. According to the Dutch newspaper, CEO Oliver Mintzlaff is aware of the matter. The confidentiality is absolute and the only statement released limits itself to confirming the indiscretion revealed by the Dutch media.
“After being informed of some recent allegations – the note reports – the company launched an independent investigation. This process, which is already underway, is being carried out by an external specialist lawyer. The company takes these matters extremely seriously and the investigation will be completed as quickly as possible. It would not be appropriate to comment further at this stage.”
Horner himself subsequently responded to the Dutch newspaper: “I completely deny these claims.”
There are currently no other indications from either the English or Austrian front, but it is likely that the matter will be clarified shortly. In ten days all the team leaders will attend the launch of the new single-seater, and in everyone's interest everything possible will be done to keep the focus on the car while trying to clarify things before the event.
