The Almeida government plan for singer Mario Vaquerizo to have a public space dedicated to his name in Madrid will be carried out in just 12 days. They are the ones that have passed between the approval of the plaque in the Plenary of the district of Chamberí and the act of its inauguration, which will take place this Tuesday, April 22 in the morning.
The place chosen by the Madrid City Council for the plaque that will be called Vaquerizo is the new trial room for musicians of the Galileo Cultural Center, located in the Chamberí neighborhood. No link is known from the singer to this district, beyond the friendship that unites one of the most outstanding affiliates of this part of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso.
The president’s local group approved the distinction on April 10, in a full controversy in which its majority imposed to take the proposal forward, in addition to adding Vox’s votes. The left voted No warning, in the case of the PSOE, that it can be bordering “the fraud of law”, while more Madrid shaved that with this it is only being done to “inflate the ego of a character”. Both parties recalled that, according to municipal regulations, tributes of this type in life are only reserved for figures of exceptional relevance.
Martínez-Almeida tried to defend the recognition ensuring that Vaquerizo had a “long professional career” and that had influenced the Madrid movement, despite being just a child when this cultural current flooded the capital of Spain.
Mario Vaquerizo has strengthened in recent years his relationship with sectors of the right and especially with the Popular Party, with whose main leaders a little over a year ago in the presentation of a promotional video of the Community of Madrid starring him. Since then they have rained contracts for their group, the Nancys Rubias, in municipalities governed by this political formation.
Only in Madrid his training was pocketed more than 65,000 euros of the municipal budget thanks to two almost consecutive actions in San Isidro and La Florida. To this we must add that two years ago the group formed by Mario Vaquerizo, Miguel Balanzategui, Juan Pedro del Moral and Marta Vaquerizo acted in the festivities of the Virgen de la Paloma, after the singer had been the preacher in 2021.
