After concluding his adventure in Formula 1 at the end of last season, Kimi Raikkonen is enjoying his well-deserved rest and in a recent interview he reiterated his intention not to want to go back to wearing a helmet and suit again.
The 2007 world champion, the last to win the world title driving a Ferrari, was one of the most loved drivers by fans. Kimi, however, never understood the reason for this popularity and explained his perplexities exclusively to Motorsport.com.
“I don’t know why the fans like me. Maybe because I am what I am, weird or bizarre as you want to call me ”.
“For me this attitude is normal, but perhaps it is not for everyone from the outside. However, I have always been myself most of the time ”.
The Finn then emphasized that he had adopted an attitude that he felt right rather than pretending to be another person just to please others.

“Obviously at the beginning it was hard because the environment tries to change you, but if you resist and remain yourself then others give it up and think that maybe it is easier to let you do what you want”.
“I am happy to have resisted at the beginning of my career because it would have been very difficult to try to be someone else.”
Kimi then continued on the subject by stating how it would have been impossible for him to pretend to be someone other than the one who has always appeared in public.
“I think you can be what people ask you to be for a while, but I don’t think that’s a healthy attitude in the long run.”
The Raikkonen character does not contradict himself even when he shows little enthusiasm for some iconic moments such as the famous radio message of Abu Dhabi 2021 “Leave me alone”. When he did have pleasant memories of moments like these, which have become iconic for the fans, the answer was… Raikkonen.
“No. In the end we won the race and the people who were there really know what happened. Getting a win is a long process that starts on Friday and ends on Sunday. In any case, I have no positive or negative feelings about that radio team ”.
