After the two-week break that allowed the teams to move personnel and material out of Europe, Formula 1 is back in the limelight for the 17th round of the 2022 World Championship, the Singapore Grand Prix.
For this event Pirelli will bring the following compounds:
Pirelli PZero White Hard C3
Pirelli PZero Yellow Medium C4
Pirelli PZero Red Soft C5
These are the three softer compounds in the 2022 range made by Pirelli. Remember that this goes from C1 – the hardest compound – to C5, the softer one.
The tires on the track
- The Italian company Dromo laid a new asphalt in Singapore this year. The surface is not as smooth as the aggregate normally used on street circuits because it was made specifically for the grand prix. Being a city track, the Marina Bay circuit is crossed by normal car traffic most of the time and the surface has elements typical of traditional urban furniture such as white lines and manholes. We expect a high level of evolution of the asphalt also due to the fact that there are not many side races that can favor the tires.
- The Grand Prix will start at 20 local time (GMT +8). Track temperatures are generally stable for much of the race. Together with the very high humidity, they represent a physical challenge for the drivers as well as for the single-seaters and obviously our tires, due to possible thermal degradation.

Mario IsolaPirelli motorsport director: “We missed the spectacular night action on the streets of Singapore! We are facing an almost totally new race because the 18-inch tires have completely different compounds and structures from those of three years ago and on the circuit New asphalt was laid this year. The Marina Bay track is made up of 23 slow corners and therefore it is essential to optimize traction “.
“We will bring the three softest compounds in the range to Singapore to ensure excellent grip on a particularly tortuous circuit where riders need maximum precision to tackle one of the most physically and technically demanding stages of the season. The key to success will be being able to finish. manage the rear tires to ensure the necessary recovery. The new single-seaters tend to understeer, so it will be even more important to find the right balance in the set-up to stabilize the front, without compromising rear traction “.
