Ferrari started the second day of testing at Fiorano with the SF71H: Carlos Sainz started lapping at 9:33 with a bad weather. Overcast skies, with mist and a temperature of 3 degrees certainly do not help to facilitate the work of the Spaniard who has officially started his second season with the Scuderia.
Carlos, even with the demo tires authorized on these occasions, has already reached a time of 56 ”in about twenty laps. The session was planned by the Maranello team to train the drivers: this morning it is Sainz’s turn, while in the afternoon it will be Charles Leclerc’s turn.
After losing a day and a half of work due to the now well-known regulatory issue raised at the FIA by a team (it is possible that it is Aston Martin …), the Maranello staff tries to take advantage of the time available to them in the best of ways.
We recall that Ferrari had set up an SF21 for this appointment, after an agreement had been reached in the last meeting on sporting rules, but the provision was not transcribed in the regulation so the British objection was sacrosanct, given that it is it was the International Federation that made another meager figure.
What is the use of changing the standard (designed specifically for pre-season winter tests) if it cannot be applied in time?
