stock movements
The pan-European Stoxx 600 rose 0.1 percent at the close, after trading within a two-point range for most of the session, as investors weighed hints of monetary tightening from central bankers against data indicating slowing global growth.
The mining sector index fell 0.4 percent as metals prices fell on concerns about the outlook for demand from China after a batch of weak economic data.
However, the rise in the real estate sector index by 2.7 percent contributed to keeping the index stable, while the health care sector stocks recovered from the sharp decline recorded in the last session.
