Traveling to another European country to study one of the years of university studies outside of Spain is the option of thousands of students. The Erasmus program becomes a great experience to practice another language, learn about another culture, make friends, have a change of scenery and get out of the nest.
Although Erasmus is a program of the European Union to support academic mobility and promote cultural exchange. Young people have many destinations to choose from depending on the language or the country they want to discover. There they attend the classes of the associated university and in those classrooms the first relationships arise. From the desks they continue to learn the syllabus of their career and learn that language more thoroughly. But on this trip there is also time for partying and fun.
An Erasmus student has shared a video on TikTok showing her classmates what Spain is to them. With a humorous tone, the young woman created some slides so that her classmates could get to know the communities, popular culture and gastronomy of the country, but in her own way. The presentation begins with a geographical map showing all the autonomous communities: «We have 17 autonomous communities and 50 provinces. And you’re screwed if you don’t understand them.” In the video that accumulates more than 100,000 visits on the @janatoyos account, they present Galicia with an image of Mariano Rajoy and another of drugs. “Have of the cocaine that you consume,” adds the young woman.
A description full of clichés to laugh at oneself and make listeners laugh. The presentation offers a more original version of other communities such as Catalonia, which show it with two popular Catalan characters: the rapper Morad, and an internet celebrity, Dandy.
Although in the presentation they also clarified confusing ideas that are widespread among tourists who visit Spain: «We are not Andalucía». In the gastronomic section, the potato omelette, gazpacho and paella stood out, three essential dishes. Nor did they forget the regional festivals, such as the Fallas in Valencia, or San Fermín in Pamplona.
