While the artist Mehad Hamad, one of the pioneers of the Emirati song, accompanied the audience on a journey through the traditions and folklore of the Emirates, performing a group of the most successful songs that he presented over the course of his four-decade artistic career, including “Barq Lah”, “Wain Ya Ghayeb”, and “Ya Amar”, to the rhythm of the oud, amid the enthusiasm of his audience, who accompanied him by dancing and singing. After a long absence from the live concerts, the artist Mehad Hamad returned to meet his fans, where he received a warm welcome from the visitors of “Expo 2020 Dubai”, especially the new generation of his fans.
Emirati star Hussain Al Jasmi, who is the ambassador of “Expo 2020 Dubai”, and one of the voices who performed the song “Expo 2020” (This Is Our Time), is scheduled to perform a concert today, March 9, to join an exceptional list of artists who sang at the international event. In addition to the stars of the entertainment world, the international event lit up stars in the field of space exploration throughout its period, as Emirati astronaut Noura Al Matrooshi, the first astronaut in the Arab world, joined Hazza Al Mansouri, the first Emirati astronaut, at Expo 2020 Dubai. in October 2021. Al Mansouri returned to the site of the international event in December, and was joined by Emirati astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi, who trained alongside him on his mission to the International Space Station in 2019. Mohammed Al Mulla, an Emirati trainee, was chosen from among more than 4,000 candidates to join. To the second batch of the Emirates Astronaut Program, from the rising stars in the space week organized by “Expo 2020 Dubai” last October.
Integrated program
As part of Expo 2020 Dubai’s celebration of International Women’s Day, the international event is organizing an integrated program that brings together leading thinkers. The list of high-profile speakers at the Breaking Prejudice Gathering includes HE Ohoud Al Roumi, Minister of State for Government Development and the Future, who will open the event. The event includes the participation of Anita Bhatia, Assistant Secretary-General and Deputy Executive Director, UN Women, and a chat with Ambassador Gina Abercrombie-Winstanley, Senior Official for Diversity and Inclusion at the US State Department. In addition, the event will host the UAE’s first female minister, Her Excellency Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi to share her experiences with the attendees, as well as Her Excellency Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of Bangladesh, His Excellency Dr. Anwar Muhammad Gargash, Diplomatic Adviser to His Highness the President, and Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director General of the World Trade Organization.
The number of virtual visits to “Expo 2020 Dubai” exceeded the threshold of 174 million visits, driven by a package of entertainment events available through “Live from Expo”.
While Expo 2020 Dubai has more exciting experiences and activities that will take place over the final three weeks, before the curtain falls on the international event on March 31, visitors adopt the slogan “Do not miss the last opportunity, it will not be available again.”
