Employees of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations identified leaks in an earthen embankment in the Abatsky district of the Tyumen region, affected by floods. The ministry reported this on April 28.
“During the regular monitoring, leaks were identified. Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia are carrying out strengthening work and additionally installing barrier fences to prevent soil sliding and water overflow,” the department said TASS.
The federal highway P-402 Tyumen – Omsk runs through this section. Specialists from the Ministry of Emergency Situations have increased patrolling of temporary earthen embankments along this road.
The ministry’s Telegram channel clarifies that reverse traffic has been organized on the highway, and 218 department specialists are working on the embankment, using 17 pieces of equipment and seven watercraft.

Earlier that day, the governor of the Tyumen region, Alexander Moor, reported that the water level in the Ishim River had increased at all key points, and in the Abatsky district it had reached 1209 cm. In addition, due to the wind, waves appear on the river, putting a large load on the dams and embankments.
On the same day, it was reported that the waters of the Ishim flooded about 50 households in this area, and the district administration emphasized that the river continued to rise.
The day before, April 27, the head of the Abatsky district, Igor Vasiliev, announced an emergency evacuation of residents from the central village, because the river could flood its streets. Vasilyev called on residents to take documents and valuables with them, turn off electricity and gas in their houses and arrive at the collection point or temporary accommodation centers.
