“Elite” is becoming one of the longest-running series of the successful Netflix streaming platform, and his five seasons with a sixth on the way are proof of that. And although it might seem that the stories can be exhausted, the creators of this latest installment have a long list of topics that have been left in the inkwell.
What topics has “Elite” dealt with in season 5?
Feminism, addictions, drugs or male frailties are some of the topics that have been addressed in season 5. Carlos Montero, creator of the series and co-writer of the current seasonexpressed it this way: “When we make the Bible, the document of the season, we have to start filtering, because between our own experiences and current issues, only the script is filled”,
“We always try to look for very current issues and, then, from there we design characters that take us to interesting and, above all, very uncomfortable places,” he indicated, for his part, Jaime Vaca the co-writer of the series.

How have the new characters contributed to the central story of the series?
The new characters deal with some of the main points of this season, and the writers have experimented with the individual stories of each character. “In fact, with the character of Valentina (Isadora) we wanted to deal with feminism from there, from a woman who has a very special vision of it, because we really wanted to put ourselves in her shoes and say ‘let’s see how she can react to certain topics’”, expressed Montero in the press conference of the presentation of the most recent part.
“We also wanted to explore the fragility of masculinity and all that with the soccer environment,” added Vaca. In this case, it is André Lamoglia’s character, Iván, who represents that whole world with the figure of his father, played by Carloto Cotta. “In fact, the protagonists themselves assure that this installment narrates social problems very naturally and makes the viewer feel identified,” explained the screenwriter.
One more season?
At the moment, “Elite” has been renewed for a sixth season, but its writers have high hopes for the future of the series, and it seems that there is still a lot to see: “We don’t see the end for now, really. In our head we never wrote like for the last season. The fourth season was like a testing ground, because there we were trying to show that “Elite” could be beyond the characters, that the brand was sustained and sustained the series,” said Carlos Montero.
