lVenezuela's main opposition coalition, the Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD), declared itself in a “permanent meeting” this Tuesday to resolve discrepancies over the presidential candidacy that will have the support of the bloc, ahead of the presidential elections on July 28.
Through X, the anti-Chavista alliance reported that representatives of the political organizations that comprise it held a meeting this Tuesday that concluded with the ratification of their “unanimous willingness to build a unitary electoral route.”
We are going to “declare ourselves in a permanent meeting, in order to deepen all the necessary steps to guarantee all Venezuelans a unitary candidacy,” the letter says.
The unitary platform wants to inform the country that at the end of its meeting today it ratified its unanimous willingness to build a unitary electoral route that materializes the desire for change of the Venezuelan people and to this end we have agreed:

In this sense, the PUD plans to hold “different work sessions”, in which it hopes to have the assistance of opposition leader María Corina Machado, elected in primaries as the alliance's presidential candidate, but prevented from competing in the elections due to a sanction imposed by the Comptroller's Office that does not allow him to hold public office until 2036.
Likewise, the bloc will call to these meetings the head of the opposition delegation in the negotiations with the Government, Gerardo Blyde, and the governor of the state of Zulia, Manuel Rosales, who registered as an opposition candidate for the Un Nuevo Tiempo party (UNT), outside the coalition.
The opposition urged Rosales on Monday to meet with the PUD to “seek an agreement, as soon as possible, that guarantees the union of all Venezuelans.”
Quoted in a press release, the former deputy urged the governor to hold the meeting as soon as possible, in front of the closing of the period for the change of presidential candidacies, scheduled for next Saturday.
Rosales recently explained that his candidacy only seeks to keep the opposition with options for the presidential elections and that he will withdraw from the race if he does not obtain the support of the PUD.
