Egypt allocated investments worth 3.37 billion pounds in the areas of improving the environment, after the Egyptian parliament approved the government’s plan proposed by the Minister of Planning.
The injection of investments begins with the budget for the current fiscal year 2021/2022, provided that development and environmental improvement projects are distributed to all governorates. Assiut, in southern Egypt, comes at the fore, with a value of 8.3%, of the total proposed budget.
The investment plan set in mind the integration of the environmental field with development projects to preserve the environment and the sustainability of resources in the coming years, by reducing toxic emissions and all sources of pollution, and relying on the green economy.
These investments come with the aim of using natural resources in the best way and ensuring that future generations live in an improved work environment with many safe job opportunities, and free from diseases and epidemics.
The Energy and Environment Committee of the Egyptian House of Representatives welcomed the proposal of the Egyptian Minister of Planning for projects to improve the environment, and the committee stressed that the green economy adopted by the Egyptian state will be the best future for activating development programs and achieving sustainable development goals in accordance with standards of environmental and resource sustainability.
The Energy Committee called for accelerating the pace of work in the areas of environmental improvement investments, pinning on it hopes for implementing wide-ranging programs in the field of environment and development after merging them within the scope of the green economy.
