He finished the MotoGP season in Valencia this weekend, but Jack Miller will be back to racing right away. In fact, the Ducati rider will join the line-up formed by Oli Bayliss, Mike Jones and Wayne Maxwell (leader of the standings) to compete in the last round of the Australian Superbike Championship aboard the Ducati V4Rs.
At the end of the Jerez tests scheduled for Thursday and Friday, Miller will fly to Australia to prepare for this round, which will take place from 3 to 5 December at The Bend circuit. The presence of the MotoGP rider comes at the end of a season in the world championship which ended in fourth position in the general classification.
This race will also be Miller’s first on a home track in two years, as the pandemic has forced him to cancel the Australian MotoGP Grand Prix in both 2020 and 2021. The Ducati rider reflects on returning to racing in his hometown: “I am really excited to have this opportunity and to compete in the final round of the Australian Superbike Championship.”
“I would like to say a huge thank you to all the guys at Ducati who have given me this opportunity in our very busy schedule – he continues – to go back to racing in front of the Australian fans is a huge privilege and a great honor. I thank the team of ABK and Motorcycling Australia for their support despite the news given in such a short time. I am also grateful to Ben Henry of DesmoSport Ducati for his help in organizing. I can’t wait to compete in front of the Australian crowd at least once this year, it will be fantastic, I can’t wait to see everyone ”.
Peter Doyle, CEO Motorcycling Australia, added: “Having Australian MotoGP star Jack Miller racing in ASBK is further testament to the highly competitive nature of our championship, which is one of the best in the world in the national Superbike arena. Australian fans miss the MotoGP a lot, absent for two years due to Covid, but now they have their national hero Jack Miller racing at home in ASBK again. We are sure there will be a lot of spectators for the ASBK grand finale in The Bend, in South Australia ”.
