Editorial The poll king’s coalition has to keep an eye on the Movement Nyti

Movement Nyt’s support had risen to 2.8 per cent in Yle’s survey of parliamentary election support. It is the highest figure the party has ever received in Yle’s measurements.

Mightily In a survey published last week measuring parties’ support for parliamentary elections, the focus was on the situation of basic Finns, the center and the Greens.

Support for basic Finns, who retained their third place, fell by 3.3 percentage points to 15.0 per cent, meaning the party seems to have fallen at the top of the Coalition Party (21.2 per cent) and the SDP (19.0 per cent).

Support for the center rose slightly, but there is still no margin for the debate on the return of the old parties, which was started by the party’s relatively good result in the regional elections, at least according to Yle’s measurement, as support now stagnated at 12.7 per cent.

The crisis in support of the Greens, on the other hand, seemed to be deepening, with 9.7 per cent of respondents supporting the party. A reading of less than 10 percent tests the inner spirit, loses self-confidence, and is likely to affect the party’s public performance as well. After all, support problems have influenced the behavior of the government partner center.

Mightily however, there was another point of interest in the measurement at the bottom of the table. Movement Nyt’s support had risen to 2.8 per cent. It is the highest reading the party has ever received in Yle’s measurements.

Of course, the support for the Movement Now is alive, and it is not worth drawing too strong conclusions from this measurement yet. The Movement now matters, however, as its popularity has a particular impact on the Coalition’s support. Recently, the party has also become a more attractive option for basic Finnish voters, and this may begin to show in the support of basic Finns.

However, the biggest stone in the newcomer party is in the shoes of the Coalition. The Coalition Party thinks that the Movement Now took the post of Prime Minister from the Coalition Party in the last election.
