The competition for electric luxury sedans is increasing: the Chinese electric car manufacturer Nio will open its first showroom in Germany in Frankfurt. And another premium brand is also moving into the immediate vicinity.
Dhe shop windows on Grosse Eschenheimer Strasse have discreet posters. Genesis only shows a faint hint of a car silhouette, while Nio needs a small company logo on a gray background. “Coming soon” is the message, which both companies did not specify further on request.
For Genesis, the premium offshoot of the Korean Hyundai Motor Group, Frankfurt is the second German location after Munich, up to twelve are planned. The Chinese manufacturer Nio, best known for its SUVs, had previously only announced that it would be launching its new flagship in this country in the fourth quarter: the ET7, a five-meter-long sedan that, given its range of up to 1000 kilometers and a low base price of the equivalent of 56,500 euros is already causing heated discussions.
