For the first time the German Dtm championship stops at the Enzo e Dino Ferrari circuit in Imola, third round of the 2022 season. At the end of the first day dedicated to free practice, Friday 17 June, the best time is for Swiss Nico Müller on the Audi R8 number 51 (1’40”909, in the second round), ahead of Kelvin Van Der Linde in another car of the Four Rings. Over the weekend two 55-minute sprint races plus 1 lap: Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 starting at 13.33 (live on Sky channel 229).

Late in the morning on the Santerno track the 25 GT3 class cars took to the track for the first free practice session. The fastest car was the Audi R8 number 3 (Abt) of South African Kelvin Van Der Linde in 1’41”351, ahead of the Porsche 911 number 92 (Ssr) of Belgian Laurens Vanthoor (+ 0”037) . Müller’s Audi R8 (Team Rosberg) third, trailing 0 ” 175. Fourth was the Lamborghini Huracán number 63 (Grt) of the Trentino driver Mirko Bortolotti (+ 0 ” 215), second in the championship standings. The first Ferrari 488 is number 18 (AF Corse) in 18th position with Felipe Fraga (+ 1 ” 489), while the former Formula 1 Timo Glock, on a BMW M4 (Ceccato), is 11th, and the leader of the championship Sheldon Van Der Linde (Bmw M4, Schubert) is 21st.

In the middle of the afternoon the second free practice session, with a dry track and temperatures well over 30 degrees. Lap times are lowered. The first overall is for Müller (I am part of Valentino Rossi’s team in the GT World Challenge Europe, on the occasion of the endurance races) on Audi, in 1’40 ” 909; second K. Van Der Linde (+ 0 ” 110), third Philipp Eng (Bmw, Schubert) at 0 ” 177. Sixth Sheldon Van Der Linde (0 ” 338); seventh Bortolotti (+ 0 ” 375); thirteenth Glock (+ 0 ” 582). The first Ferrari is Nick Cassidy’s number 37 (AF Corse), 20th, at 0 ” 962.
