There are events that change things forever as we are used to knowing them, we have understood this in the last two years of life on this planet, as our heroes of theMCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe for those who missed this acronym): after the events of Avengers: Endgame who left an open wound and ended a ten-year cycle, it’s time for a new one, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness lends itself to this new “spin” for the wheel of fate that moves everyone. How will this change happen? We went through all the movie trailers and put together bits and pieces of what we noticed.
Multiverse of Madness, infinite dangers
Let’s take a step back and reconnect to the first film with the Doctor Strange as the protagonist: in that film the AncientSupreme Sorcerer of Earth, teaches Stephen that understanding a multiverse entails infinite possibilities and infinite dangers. Not surprisingly before a brief comparison with Thanos, Strange visualizes 14 million and 605 timelines, possible futures of their destiny; in Spider-Man: Far From Home the game widens and we find the Doctor struggling with the collapse of the intangible barrier that divides our universe from the others, those where things may have gone in a similar way to ours, but also the most abstruse ones where, for example, there are no other heroes at the outside of Spider-Man.
Now, assuming that you know exactly what happened in the cinema, we must assume that you also know what happened on the “small screen” and we refer to the events of Loki viewable on Disney + (in case you have seen everything but have not deepened the season finale we leave you here an article that talks about it), if on the contrary you have not seen anything:
ATTENTION: because from now on there will be SPOILERS on Loki and his first season.
On its journey between time and space, Loki in the company of Sylvie meets what could in fact represent the new inexorable threat to the whole universe that is Kang the Conqueror; according to what we know, Kang has always been at the center of the universe eliminating possible threats to our continuum and acting as a moderator for ongoing events. After the intervention of Loki and Sylvie who have actually killed our Kang, the latter reveals to him that “others” like him – that is the other Kangs of different sizes – now they will be free to roam the multiverse and bring anyone to their knees.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness takes and reverses the fate of what has been viewed so far, or rather, draw a line, and we expect it will open more defined scenarios. As we have seen in the various trailers released so far, we know that Stephen Strange himself will have different costumes, like a Cloak of Levitation changed in detailwho knows if for artistic whim or if for an enhancement of the artifact, or how the Eye of Agamotto which originally contained the Time Stone and which now seems to light up green anyway, and therefore we can deduce that the artifact was not just a casket but that it also conferred powers in the MCU – as in the world of print media – to those who master it. .
To accompany the Doctor on this journey we find again Wanda or Scarlet Witch, who after her “vision” seems to be more serene and less angry with the world. Then we have a whole series of heroes in a different keyhow Iron Man, whose name makes the wrists tremble even the most stoic and who will most likely be an enemy of our hero in this version, and last but not least I bite who, as you will recall, was Strange’s teacher in the first film, and was already holding the Staff of the Living Tribunal (one of the most powerful entities in Stan Lee’s fictional paper universe). Here he may no longer be an ally of the Doctor but rather be a villain of the story.
One Doctor
Despite the allegations, the Doctor’s nightmares and everything we are led to imagine, it emerges that the main enemy of this story is Doctor Stephen Strange himself, in another incarnation from who knows what universe. The magician seems to have gone completely crazy, and when he comes face to face with our protagonist he insults him, making him doubt himself. It may actually be Mordo’s deception who as we know is a magician with a predisposition for mind control and altering the perception of his enemy. Finally, everything could be a deception of Kang the Conqueror che aims atelimination of the Sorcerer Supreme as too much of a threat to his plans.
As we know from the comics, an enemy like Kang prefers deception to open face combat, endowed with highly sophisticated suits Tony Stark is envious of, capable of creating holograms, increasing their physical strength, creating force fields. Finally he has a deadly weapon: an Ultra-Diode gun able to to subdue the will of who is hit by its beam e deprive him of his powers if he had any, in short, not exactly the nicest of opponents. What is sure is that after this film the approach with the others coming will be really different, realities could collide, and here we would have Deadpoolthe X-Men and all the heroes of the past in our present time but – this is clear – even their enemies. Everything rests on the shoulders of one man: Doctor Strangethat there wait in the Multiverse of Madness.
