As of today, the diploma register of the Education Executive Agency (DUO), where people can request an extract from their paper, will be given a new name: My Diplomas. A number of new options for users will also be added soon.
Suppose: in a fire all your diplomas go up in smoke or they are lost during a move. Then are on the website mydiplomas.nl the diploma details of most Dutch study programs recognized by the Ministry of Education. Using DigiD anyone can download a free digital extract or request a paper extract for a fee if an employer or school asks for proof of diploma.
DUO is changing its name in connection with the introduction of a new law, which no longer refers to registers but to data. This has also made the exchange of data clearer.
transition phase
The changed name is part of a transition phase to the revamped site. The big change will take place on January 1, 2022. My diplomas will soon contain a number of new possibilities. This makes it an option to receive part of the digital extract in English. The idea behind this is to make the digital extract more accessible internationally.
It will also be possible for educational institutions to download a certified PDF file with the permission of a graduate. This function is mainly intended for foreign graduates who cannot use DigID. Finally, the digital MBO diploma will soon be more in line with the physical diploma, especially in terms of the basic qualifications obtained.
After a publication in this newspaper in July 2019, the visit to the then diploma register shot up by thousands. People flocked to look for an extract after their original diplomas were lost in a fire or move or because a nasty ex did not want to return the paper.
