The Municipality of Dibba Al-Fujairah reported that it is carrying out proactive monitoring visits to commercial establishments and sales outlets with the approach of the blessed month of Ramadan, to follow up on the abundance of Ramadan goods and products, and to verify the establishments’ compliance with the municipality’s regulations and requirements, and the validity of the offers promoted by the establishments, with the aim of preventing commercial fraud or price manipulation.
The director of the municipality, Eng. Hassan Salem Al-Yamahi, said that the Consumer Protection Department is carrying out inspection tours of establishments in preparation for the holy month of Ramadan, with the aim of ensuring the validity of promotional offers and sales, and monitoring violators or price manipulators.
And he stressed the owners of commercial activities to ensure that activities are carried out in accordance with the permits and licenses granted, and to adhere to promotional offers, and not to conduct fake offers to attract the public, adding that the municipality is responsible for educating consumers on how to communicate with the municipality to deliver complaints and proposals about violating establishments to provide a safe consumer environment.
Al-Yamahi stressed that these campaigns are continuing periodically, in order to confront all forms of transgressions and illegal activities, to preserve the health and safety of community members, explaining that the municipality pays great attention to equipping slaughterhouses in Dibba and Bidiyah with the necessary needs to cover slaughter operations during the holy month.
He added that the Ramadan market has been restored to engage in the activity of displaying and selling Ramadan foods of various kinds in several places, including in front of the Dibba Society for Culture, Arts and Theater, in front of the shops in Dibba, and in front of the Bidiyah market for vegetables and fruits.
Al-Yamahi said that consumers have an active role in monitoring phenomena by immediately reporting any violations they monitor by calling the emergency office number (092443399) that operates around the clock, or communicating through its social media channels (dibbamun) to take legal measures against violators.
