The Egyptian Football Association’s media center revealed that the Pharaohs team insisted on playing on the previously scheduled date for the match, due to the professionals and players’ travel schedules.
Botswana was scheduled to host Egypt at 4 pm on Tuesday in the second round.
However, Botswana requested that the match be held at 9 pm Cairo time, 5 hours after the scheduled time.
The Botswana Football Association has contacted its counterpart, the Confederation of African Football (CAF), to postpone the anticipated match against the Egyptian national team, because the Botswana national team mission is still stuck in Nouakchott, the capital of Mauritania, following the match that took place between the two teams in the opening round of the African Nations Cup qualifiers.
The pre-match press conference, which was scheduled for Monday afternoon, was also cancelled due to the Botswana team not having arrived yet.
