According to Imran Reza, UN humanitarian aid coordinator in Syria, water from unsafe sources, in particular from the Euphrates River and irrigation canals, became the cause of the spread of the infection.

The Syrian Ministry of Health urged citizens to strictly observe sanitary and hygienic standards, as well as to go to the hospital if they suspect an infection.
Earlier, on September 10, it was reported that three people died in Syria as a result of cholera infection. It was noted that an outbreak of the disease was recorded in different parts of the country.
It is known that the first case was a nine-year-old child who has already received medical care and was discharged.
As part of the inspections, cholera samples were found in sewage and at an ice plant. After the discovery of the virus, the business was immediately closed.
