Slovakia also goes into lockdown. Deputy Prime Minister Richard Sulik, after a government meeting, announced that from tomorrow and for two weeks the population will be able to leave only to go to work and for other essential services. No derogation is foreseen for the vaccinated, contrary to what was initially foreseen, Sulik said. The schools will remain open and students will be regularly swab, as well as from Monday the swab will be mandatory for those who go to work. Today in Slovakia 10,315 infections from Covid have been recorded, a record number, out of a population of 5.5 million inhabitants.
The dead are 71. The Ministry of Health stressed that 72% of the infected are not vaccinated. At the moment, there are 3,205 hospitalized for covid in Slovak hospitals, of which 557 are in intensive care. 83% of hospitalized patients are not vaccinated. Small country of 5.4 million inhabitants, Slovakia has a low number of vaccinates: only 47% of the population received two doses.
