The Ministry of Health announced this Friday (15) the reduction of the interval of the second dose of the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine from 12 weeks to eight weeks. Thus, it is up to the municipalities to adjust the second dose schedules based on the availability of the immunizing agent.
According to the folder, doses were sent to complete the vaccination cycle of all vaccines offered throughout the country. In total, 310 million doses were made available to states and municipalities.
103.7 million people had completed the vaccination cycle until this Friday. The vaccinated population, aged 12 or over in the country, totals 180 million people.
According to the Ministry of Health, the new stage of the vaccination campaign against covid-19 involves the completion of the vaccination cycle for those who received the first dose of the immunizing agent from Pfizer and booster doses for the elderly, immunosuppressed and health professionals.
A challenge within this phase is to regularize the situation of those who took only the first dose. According to the Ministry of Health, 19.3 million people have their dose late for the completion of the vaccination schedule.
