According to the SPD, politicians from the coalition factions are in agreement that they want to increase the planned subsidy for heating costs in view of the exploding energy costs.
Berlin – The building policy spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group, Bernhard Daldrup, said on Thursday that the building policy spokesman for the SPD, Greens and FDP agreed that the draft law on the heating cost subsidy had to be improved. “A one-off payment of 135 euros to housing benefit recipients makes too little of a contribution to seriously compensate for the price increases for heating and warmth in apartments in recent months,” says Daldrup. “Therefore, we are demanding a noticeable increase in the planned subsidy.”
The opinions of the experts who are to have their say in the hearing of the Bundestag next Monday should be included in the determination of a specific sum. “Only then can we decide on the final amount of the subsidy.” Lengthy application and examination procedures should be avoided, the help must reach those affected promptly.
According to the previous plans of the federal government, there should be a subsidy for recipients of housing benefit, for students with student loans, recipients of promotional student loans and vocational training grants. Recipients of housing benefit who live alone should receive a heating subsidy of 135 euros, two-person households 175 euros. For each additional roommate, another 35 euros are provided. Students, trainees and other beneficiaries should receive a flat rate of 115 euros. Building Minister Klara Geywitz (SPD) had said that around 2.1 million people in Germany should receive a one-time heating subsidy from the federal government from June this year. (dpa)
