The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, in cooperation with the Emirates Network for Climate Change Research, organized an introductory session on the network and the role of scientific research in advancing climate action efforts.
The session aimed to shed light on the importance of enhancing research and development processes and exploring innovative solutions in advancing efforts to confront the challenge of climate change, and supporting capabilities to adapt to its repercussions, and the role that the network plays in strengthening the climate action system at the level of the UAE, and its endeavor to expand the circle of benefiting from research and development operations on The regional level of the Middle East region.
Faten Samara, co-chair of the network, said: “The negative impacts of climate change are accelerating and expanding globally, which poses a threat to the lives of millions of people and threatens the health of our planet, which requires strengthening our research and scientific capabilities to determine the nature of the impacts and innovative solutions to confront it to contribute to drawing and defining The effective measures required to be taken to reduce the causes of climate change and to enhance the capacity to adapt to its repercussions. The session, which witnessed the participation of 100 experts and specialists, dealt with a set of important themes, including the importance of a broad global consensus that would lead to activating climate action in an integrated manner in the implementation phase, in addition to stating the priorities of the five research groups and their role in accelerating climate action policies.
