Manchester City on Wednesday expressed their shock and grief after reports that one of their fans was attacked in Belgium following their 5-1 win over Club Brugge in the Champions League yesterday.
British media reported that a fan of the English Premier League champions residing in Belgium was taken to intensive care after being attacked in a car park in Drongen after the match ended.
“We are currently working closely with Club Brugge and the Belgian and English authorities to find out more details about the circumstances of the accident,” City said in a statement.
Brugge said in a separate statement that the club was shocked and dismayed after learning of the incident, and that it strongly rejects any criminal conduct on or off the field.
