AP: China to create artificial rain with chemicals to save crops from drought
Chinese authorities are going to create artificial rain using chemicals to save crops from a record drought. About it informs Associated Press (AP).
According to the agency, the summer of 2022 in China was the hottest in 61 years since the start of weather observations. The drought wilted crops and half-drained the reservoirs.
Agriculture Minister Tang Renjian said the coming ten days are “a key resilience period” for southern China’s rice crop. The authorities will take emergency measures to preserve the fall grain harvest, which accounts for 75 percent of China’s annual harvest, he said.
Earlier it became known that Spain is investing more than 200 million euros in the expansion and construction of water desalination plants. The invented method will help to cope with the lack of water in the country against the backdrop of drought.
