Chinese specialists will help colleagues in Taiwan to cure panda Tuan Tuan
Specialists in mainland China will help their colleagues in Taiwan to cure the panda Tuan Tuan. About it informs British edition of The Independent.
On October 28, Taipei extended an invitation to Chinese veterinary experts to come and examine the 18-year-old animal, which is suspected to have a brain tumor.
“The main goal is to visit Tuan Tuan and see his current state. They expressed a desire to personally come to visit the panda. I think it will be a very meaningful trip,” said Eva Wang, head of animal department at Taipei City Zoo.
She noted that the date of the trip was not specified at the moment.
Two giant pandas, Tuan Tuan and Yuan Yuan, were given to Taipei by Beijing 14 years ago as a sign of warming relations across the Taiwan Strait. Put together, the halves of their names form the Chinese word for “union”.
