The case that the Swedish Pernilla Sjöholm has brought against the Dutch ING bank has turned into a new drama for her.
Sjöholm had come to Amsterdam especially for this lawsuit, in which she hoped to get money back that she had lost through the bank to the ‘Tinder Swindler’, or the Israeli con man Simon Leviev. But the judge who would rule on the case was challenged, meaning the case must be redone. This reports Page Six†
Just before the case took place, another judge was appointed after the original judge became infected with the corona virus. The new judge was no stranger to this case, because he had previously ruled against the Dutch victim Ayleen Charlotte in August 2021. Sjöholm did not want to let him determine her fate, so her lawyer Herman Loonstein decided against him. to avenge. The Swedish flew back home pending a new date with a different judge.
Fraudulent
,,I’d rather fly back to Amsterdam one more time to get a fair verdict. The ING bank could have done a lot more to protect us, because we as victims were transferring money to a fraudulent person who had been on their ‘blacklist’ for years,” said Pernilla.
Through the Netflix documentary The Tinder Swindler the wrongdoing of Leviev, whose real name is Shimon Hayut, came to light. In the series, Sjöholm tells her story, as do fellow victims Cecilie Fjellhøy and the Dutch Ayleen Charlotte. All three ladies were defrauded of thousands of euros by Leviev, who eventually got away without punishment for those specific acts and is currently living as a free man again in Tel Aviv. He claims that there is no question of fraud.
