Carlos Álvarez and Jorge Benavides formed one of the great duos of Peruvian television during the 2000s. In “El especial del humor”, a comedy program on Latina Televisión to which they dedicated little more than a decade, they put together a large number of sketches that to this day they are unforgettable to fans of the show. What were your funniest skits? We remind you of them in the following note.
The ‘pitucas’ of La Molina
This sketch is not only remembered for the images of Jorge and Carlos dressed as two irreverent ladies, but also for the beating that the Chicken character received from Walter Ramírez —better known for his imitation of ‘Chorri’— and all the citizens of Ate on the other side of the fence.
‘Toledo’ and ‘Ilian’
Perhaps many Peruvians remember Alejandro Toledo and Eliane Karp for the parody they made of them in “El especial del humor”. The cry of the former president’s partner, “Alejaaandro!”, is to this day one of the most identifiable occurrences of the program.
Galan and Jorgito
The imitations of presidents were always the specialty of Álvarez and Benavides. Galan and Jorgito’s sketches could seem like just another humorous sequence of the program, but they also had behind them a kind of criticism of Peruvian society and its problems.
Claudio and Autori
The soccer duos were also a recurring theme in “El especial del humor”. In this case, it was a secret romance between the parodies of former Peruvian national team member Claudio Pizarro and Brazilian coach Paulo Autuori.
fuji and kenji
Although Carlos Álvarez did very well his parody of Alberto Fujimori, JB always stole the sequence with his peculiar entrances of Kenji to the rhythm of “Who cares?” of Thalia. The character has stayed with Benavides to this day and is one of his most recurrent.
