Captured sailor who tried to sink Russian tycoon’s yacht for ‘revenge’

The Civil Guard of Majorca, Spain, has arrested a Ukrainian sailor for partially sinking the luxury yacht from his boss Alexander Mijeev, who is a top manager of a corporation that manufactures military equipment.

This super yacht has a value of seven million euros and was moored in Port Adriano, a marina on the coast of Calviá. According to the newspapers Última Hora and Diario de Mallorca, the detainee explained, at the judicial headquarters, that he opened several valves in the engine room in order to sink the yacht after seeing the attack on residential buildings in the city of Kiev.

The Ukrainian warned his shipmates to abandon ship and they notified the port assistance services to prevent the ship from sinking and stop it.

Upon being arrested, the man stated that Mijeev is related to the manufacture of explosives and decided to take revenge on him. In addition, he added that this man was a criminal who enriches himself with the weapons that are killing his compatriots.

The civil guard continues to investigate the events, however, the man is currently free with charges.
