Campi Flegrei, ten earthquakes in 30 hours: one with its epicenter in Naples
The seismic swarm continues in the Campi Flegrei area, where 10 earthquakes were recorded in just over a day and a half.
From midnight on April 13 to dawn today, even very distant areas were affected by seismic activity, testifying to the extent of the bradyseism that is affecting the Campi Flegrei, where 612 seismic events were detected in the last month.
All the tremors accompanied by a loud roar and had a different epicenter, with the exception of the last two at dawn this morning. The depths, on average between 1 and 2.5 kilometres, were also different, reaching up to 5 kilometres. Two tremors approached Naples: one at 21.40 yesterday evening hit the Coroglio area and another, at 3 in the night, was registered in Bagnoli. The most intense was of magnitude 1.5, detected at 19.09 yesterday.
A phenomenon linked to volcanic activity in the gulf of Pozzuoli, which sees the contraction and expansion of the rocks found above the magma belt. In recent decades, bradyseism has returned to the uplift phase, accompanied by frequent surface tremors.
