The Asian Jiu-Jitsu Federation launched the Sports Safety Program in coordination with the International Federation, with the aim of creating a solid foundation for a safe sports environment. The program comes in the context of the continental federation’s firm commitment to giving priority to the safety and well-being of jiu-jitsu athletes.
Since 2018, the International Federation has approved the Safe Sports Environment Policy, which reflects its commitment to the importance of establishing a healthy and safe environment for practicing Jiu-Jitsu, and the Asian Federation was quick to adopt this policy and promote it throughout the continent.
Commenting on this issue, Zaid Sami, Director of the Sports Safety Program at the Asian and International Jiu-Jitsu Federations, said: “Last year, we began implementing the sports safety program during the major tournaments organized by the Asian and International Jiu-Jitsu Federations, and today we are expanding the scope of the program to include all events related to this sport.” .
He continued: “All athletes have the right to a safe environment to train, compete and develop. Our commitment to the safety and security of players reflects our keenness to ensure a safe future for everyone inside and outside the competition.” The influence of any sports organization is proportional to its ability to protect its members, and we seek to meet the highest standards in practicing sports safety.”
The Sports Safety Program is consistent with the primary mission of the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation in establishing a safe and positive environment for all those involved in the game. The program also highlights the Federation’s efforts to prevent any form of abuse or discrimination, while promoting the values of respect and integrity in all corners of the Jiu-Jitsu system.
The program is based on strict policies and educational and awareness-raising initiatives, reflecting the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation’s commitment to implementing safety policies that keep pace with international best practices. The program pledges to provide comprehensive education and training to identify any challenges and address them quickly and effectively according to clear mechanisms.
