The organization of the Colsanitas Zurich Cup confirmed the presence of Camila Osorio and Emiliana Arango in the 2024 edition of the tournament, which will be played from March 30 to April 7 on the clay courts of the Country Club of Bogotá.
For Osorio, returning to this tournament, after two years, means a great opportunity, taking into account that in 2023 he had to retire from the game due to physical problems that also prevented him from playing the WTA 1000 Indian Wells and Miami.
While Emiliana Arango returns to the most important WTA in South America after having reached the round of 16 last year. It is worth pointing out that, at this moment, the tennis player from Antioquia is two withdrawals away from entering the main draw, which could occur in the coming days. Otherwise, Arango will be guaranteed a wildcard to play the tournament directly.
Osorio's best result in this competition was the title obtained in 2021, thus far being her only crown in competitions on the WTA circuit; Meanwhile, Arango's main performance in the capital competition is the quarterfinals of the 2018 edition.
On the other hand, the German Tatjana Maria will return to Bogotá to aim for the 2024 Colsanitas Zurich Cup to win her third consecutive title and, in addition, become the second tennis player to achieve something similar, after the Colombian Fabiola Zuluaga, who celebrated in 2002 , 2003 and 2004.
Since its inclusion in the WTA calendar in 1998, Colombia leads the list of countries with the most titles: four won by Fabiola Zuluaga, one by Mariana Duque and another won by Camila Osorio. Behind the homeowners appear Spain with five titles; Italy with three; Germany, Argentina and the United States have two; while Austria, Brazil, Slovakia, France and Serbia each have a champion in their history.
The list of figures is led by the Czech Marie Bouzkova, No. 40 in the world ranking, winner of a WTA title and whose best result in a Grand Slam tournament is the quarterfinals of Wimbledon 2022. Behind the Czech, The already referenced Tatjana Maria appears, current two-time champion and who is ranked 46th in the WTA ranking.
In addition, nine other tennis players will be present, who are among the best 100 in the world, which will be announced later.
