The Ministry of Ecological Transition has resolved the differences that it maintained with the distributors of butane, who for months protested for the increase in their costs and the lack of review of their compensation.
After several meetings with the Government, on March 6 an order from the Ministry for Ecological Transition set a new way of calculating marketing costs. This new formula now translates into an increase of more than one euro in the price of the bottle, which led to the price increased yesterday 6.19%, reaching 17.67 euros.
The government has decided to temporarily lift the maximum 5% increase limit to allow these prices to vary in this bimonthly review.
From the Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU) yesterday was insisted on the need for a social bonus to automatically apply to those who have the right to mitigate the impact of these increases on the most vulnerable homes.
In 2015, a new price setting system for butane bottle was adopted. Since then, the price has experienced notable variations in short periods of time. Traditionally, butane prices tended to rise in winter already down during the summer, but this trend was broken in 2021 and 2022. In the revision of May 2022 a record level was reached in the price of the bottle, reaching 19.55 euros. From that point, the price began to fall, but the past autumn began new increases that culminated in this last review with an increase of 1.03 euros over the previous price.
The March increase adds to those of September, November and January, which has led to the Bombona has increased almost 2.5 euros more than in August. This means that in the last half year, the price has risen no less than 15%. In addition, the interannual increase in the price of this fuel, which is used by many homes in Spain, is 6%.
