Dubai Racing Club has announced the appointment of Bubat Simar as the official coach at Zabeel Stables, after a resounding success last season (2021-2022), in which his horses won 47 times.
The 45-year-old has a wealth of experience that qualifies him to play his role as a coach for the prestigious stables, and he is originally from India, and trained in the United States of America at Teller Mead Stables, and also worked as an assistant coach for Bob Baffert, a multi-time winner of the Dubai World Cup.
Major General Dr. Muhammad Issa Al-Adb, Board Member and General Manager of Dubai Racing Club, said: “We congratulate Bobat Simar for being chosen as a trainer at Zabeel Stables, one of the oldest and most magnificent stables in Dubai and has a solid history in graduating prominent horses and brilliant names that have enriched the local racing scene, and Simar has global experience. A local practice over two decades, it thus possesses the eligibility to sustain the stable’s record and add to it in the coming years.
Bubat Simar said: “I am honored to be a coach at Zabeel Stables, where I have worked for nearly 20 years, and I am looking forward to the next season. This is the opportunity that I consider a life opportunity to lead the stable team in this prestigious stable in Dubai, and at a time that is witnessing higher levels of competition in the country’s races, and I hope that the stable will be at the best of expectations.
Semar, winner of the coaches championship in his first season as a coach during the last local season 2021-2022, and also the winner of his first race in the first category with “Switzerland” under the Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi logo in the Dubai Golden Shaheen race on the evening of the Dubai World Cup, also saddled his first participant in a race Kentucky Derby when he pushed the horse “Sumr Is Tomorrow” to Churchill Downs after winning second place in the Emirates Derby for the second category at Meydan.
Bobat Simar’s crew at Zabeel Stables, one of the largest and most beautiful stables in Dubai, includes highly experienced assistants, including his wife Caroline, who is a key member of the team, and the jockey Taj O’Shea, who won the UAE Knights Championship in ten seasons, and is expected to be a main jockey for the stables. Zabeel next season.
The 2022-2023 horse racing season in the UAE will start on Friday, October 28, at Al Ain Racecourse, and the races will move to the Meydan International Racecourse a week later, on Friday, November 4, and the Dubai World Cup ceremony, with prizes of $30.5 million, will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2023.
