The Minister of Citizenship, João Roma, held a press conference this Wednesday afternoon (20) to announce the launch of the Auxílio Brasil assistance program. The government wants to start paying the benefit as of November, but there are still doubts about where the funds for its execution will come from.

Rome stressed that the money will not come from extraordinary credits and that his ministry is working together with the economic team so that the program does not have the need to break the federal government’s spending ceiling.
“We are dealing internally with the economic area so that these advances occur, following the fiscal responsibility that we have always defended. The two areas are sides of the same coin”, he said.
Auxílio Brasil will be the successor to the Bolsa Família program and intends to serve R$17 million to families by paying R$400 per month.
