British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said he has no plans to resign, despite calls from some government members. On Wednesday, July 6, the TV channel reports sky news.
“The prime minister is aware that he has a mandate of 14 million people, and the only way to get him to leave is to take away this mandate with the support of the majority of the party,” Johnson’s supporter said.
He also stressed that the Prime Minister continues to work and invites new candidates for vacant positions in the Cabinet of Ministers.
Earlier in the day, a group of British officials called on Boris Johnson to step down from his obligations early. Among them are Interior Minister Priti Patel, the new Finance Minister Nadhim Zahavi and others.
In turn, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom said that he would leave his post only if he realized that the government of the country could not do its job. He also added that another reason for his departure could be the unwillingness of the Cabinet of Ministers to “help the Ukrainian people.”
At the same time, the British Prime Minister stressed that the government should not resign in the midst of a crisis and a difficult situation in the United Kingdom.
On the eve it was reported that the heads of the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Health of Great Britain resigned amid scandals around Johnson and his protégé, former Deputy Foreign Minister Christopher Pincher accused of sexual harassment. Former health secretary Sajid Javid, leaving his post, said that he had lost confidence in Johnson and “can no longer continue to work in good conscience.”
Later it became known that more than 30 civil servants decided to resign for the same reasons.
On June 6, a vote was held to pass a vote of no confidence in the British Prime Minister. However, representatives of the ruling Conservative Party in the UK could not get enough votes for this. At the same time, Johnson said that he refuses to resign, despite the fact that he understands “how angry the British are.”
At the end of 2021, Johnson and other members of the government were caught organizing entertainment events during the lockdown imposed due to the coronavirus infection. The Mirror reported that “wine parties” were held at the Downing Street residence in London on a regular basis.
