US President Joe Biden said on Sunday that he had reached an agreement with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron on using profits from Russia’s frozen funds to help Ukraine.
Following the celebration of the eightieth anniversary of the Normandy Landings to liberate France from Nazi occupation during World War II, the French President received, yesterday, Saturday, his American counterpart, Joe Biden, who is on an official visit to Paris. The two presidents’ talks included trade, the Middle East and Ukraine issues.
During next week’s summit in Italy, G7 leaders hope to reach an agreement to use Russia’s frozen assets to help Ukraine rebuild.
The leaders of the seven wealthy countries – the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Canada, France, Italy and Japan – will meet in southern Italy from June 13 to 15.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky participates in the summit to ask the Western allies to increase their aid to his country, before heading to a summit on peace in Ukraine to be held in Switzerland.
