Biden announces plan to make condoms and birth control pills free

“Since Roe v. Wade was overturned more than two years ago, Republican elected officials have made clear that they want to ban or restrict birth control, stop funding federal programs that help women access contraceptives and repeal the Affordable Care Act,” the White House has indicated in relation to the historic court ruling that recognized for the first time the right of women to abortion without restrictions during the first trimester of pregnancy and that was nevertheless annulled by the Supreme in 2022.

“The Vice President (Kamala) Harris and I have worked tirelessly to protect and develop the law. “We have reduced the costs of market coverage by an average of $800 a year for millions of Americans, and more Americans than ever have signed up for insurance through the law,” he stressed. That is why he has emphasized that the Government has decided to »expand access to affordable, quality contraception« at a time when this measure »is being attacked«.

“We believe that women in every state should have the freedom to make very personal decisions about their health, including the right to decide if and when they want to start a family. We will continue fighting to protect access to reproductive health care and we will ask Congress to restore reproductive freedom and safeguard the right to contraception once and for all,” he concluded.
